Non-invasive blood glucose monitoring technology has garnered significant attention and debate since its inception. Many people remain skeptical, questioning whether this technology can accurately monitor blood glucose levels. So, is non-invasive blood glucose monitoring a myth, or is it a genuine advancement in technology?
The core of non-invasive blood glucose monitoring technology lies in photoplethysmography (PPG) signals. PPG is a technique that measures blood volume changes using optical methods. The basic principle involves using a light source (typically an LED) and a photodetector to detect changes in light absorption caused by blood flow under the skin.
Specifically, the pulse waveform in PPG signals is influenced by various physiological factors, including blood glucose concentration. By employing complex mathematical models and machine learning algorithms, features related to blood glucose levels can be extracted, enabling non-invasive blood glucose monitoring.
To validate the effectiveness of the non-invasive blood glucose monitoring technology, we conducted rigorous clinical tests. These tests involved data collection and analysis from volunteers of different ages, genders, and health conditions to ensure broad applicability. A support vector machine with a radial basis function kernel had the best detection performance, with an average accuracy of 84.7%, a sensitivity of 81.05%, a specificity of 88.3%, a precision of 87.51%, a geometric mean of 84.54%, and F score of 84.03%.
These results indicate that non-invasive blood glucose monitoring has practical application potential. PPG measurements can be used to identify participants with elevated blood glucose measurements and assist in the screening of participants for diabetes risk. With GO2SLEEP 3, you will be able to monitor your blood glucose levels more efficiently, making health management easier and more effective.
